| Step 1
We begin with a stock Electro Harmonix NY Big Muff PI
Reissue (TM)
that we wish to modify.
|
 |
| Step 2
We open the unit and find........
|
 |
| Step 3
The 'guts' are removed and we drill out the box to
accept
a standard center negative ac/dc power jack. The factory cable jacks
are then replaced with heavy duty Switchcraft(tm) jacks,
a new LED is added and the true-bypass switch is mounted.
|
 |
| Step 4
We now wire the pedal for true-bypass switching
to ensure a pure uncorrupted bypass tone. The battery connector
is then upgraded to a heavy duty one with braided wires. A
1 Meg resistor is used to damp off any residual charge that could
cause a 'poping' noise while switching. We then add a power filter
capacitor to eliminate incomming voltage fluxuations.
|
 |
| Step 5
The pedal's circuit board is now modified by replacing
all transistors with low
noise high gain replacements. Finally the PCB is reinstalled, all
connections
are soldered and loose wires are tiewrapped
in place.
|
 |
| Step 6
The unit is reassembled and ready for testing. From
the exterior,
the unit appears stock except for the water clear LED installed in the
unit.
We will use any color of LED you would like at no additional charge.
